The Bands:

DEARLY BELOVED

Dearly Beloved is an exciting new project formed by Rob Higgins (ex. Change of Heart & Doctor) with influences from 70’s UK punk to early 80’s pop to Detroit rock and roll. Already gaining a buzz for their explosive live shows, Dearly Beloved’s debut album You Are The Jaguar is set to be released on July 11, 2006 on Kindling/Warner Music.

Formed in early 2005, Dearly Beloved includes Higgins (lead singer and bass), Niva Chow (vocalist), Damon Richardson (guitar), Alex Oreilly (drums) and John Pogue (guitar). Higgins and Richardson played together in Change of Heart, Richardson recently left Danko Jones and Oreilly played with Higgins in Doctor. The rest of the band also worked and collaborated before in various projects before joining Dearly Beloved.

The band’s debut, You Are the Jaguar, was written, produced and recorded by Higgins at Orange Studios and in his home studio Phoebe Street. “The prettiest sounding moments on the record are the darkest in terms of subject matter,” says Higgins, “and the most brutal and sonically punishing moments are actually the happiest. It is a survival art record.” “The Butler Routine,” “Acquiesce (These Times Are Underrated)” and “Perils of Snap Decisions” are great examples of those moments.

You Are the Jaguar is not a traditional solo album; it documents life experiences from the perspective of one man yet is buoyed by the generosity and love of close friends. That bond is evident when you see this group live and is also an essential ingredient in making Dearly Beloved stand out from the rest. Higgins describes, "Now, it's all about Dearly Beloved. Chaos tempered with love and delivered with great fury.”

Press Reviews:

“Dearly Beloved were gathered in front of the crowd this night to rock and fucking roll, and nothing else. With the help of a female vocalist and a frontman with enough spark to light a fireworks show, this band put on a solid show.” - Phil Villeneuve, Chartattack

“…Toronto's Dearly Beloved is onto something with their full-length debut, an album crammed with everything from punk to shoegaze, alt-rock and a bazillion little subtleties. Creative driving force and singer Rob Higgins is more than able to handle the constant musical forays, and the rest of the players have plenty of their own fire to throw into the mix.” - Evan Davies, Now Magazine

AIDE-DE-CAMP

Aide-de-camp is true to their name and never shares secrets. A trustworthy ally who would never betray you, they are always at your service.

From Halifax NS, they are scoring a reputation for their live shows. It could be that they don't sing about love...they don't cry over the girl next door...and they don't bleed over angst...they talk about the now, and aren't afraid to tell their side of the story.

Joe Wynne (vocals/ guitars), Cory Bowles (bass), Archie Gillis (guitar) and Doug Cameron (drums) follow strict orders to deliver eclectic melodies and sweeping rhythms, and they do it really loud...

Cory says the band sounds like "whatever you want it to at the time". Let's face it, they've been described as Buckley marries J. Mascus, Radiohead meets Joe Satriani, Brit rock with the keyboard player beat up and ousted...you get the picture...everyone has a description, but the end result? AIDE-DE-CAMP is unique.

Their debut album "E" (2005) debuted on a number of campus charts, in Canada and created an acceptable buzz for the quartet. Where else does it play? Capitalizing on Myspace, the band has already used new-found contacts to send music all over the planet. Something they intend to do keep doing.
Their second outing "Dear Skeleton" (2006) is a style defining album that promises to solidify the group's sound.

A different note, each member has important missions besides the band. Joe is a theatre and film actor who finds the stage a second home. Cory is readily recognized as one of the stars of the runaway TV hit show "The Trailer Park Boys" (trailerparkboys.com) and is the founder of the Dance Company "Verve Mwendo" (vervemwendo.com). When not scolding an audience with his solos, Archie is the inventor of the Gillis Multiple Capo System (gillismusic.com) and teaches everywhere. Doug Cameron is a tireless avant-garde musician, teaches, and is a jazz graduate.

Constant campaign on the east coast has since led them to seek new territories to leave damaged.

They are currently on a canada wide tour, hitting every spot with a venue.

Chart Attack! named them a band to keep an eye on in 2006. They intend to make good on that statement.

A Boy Named Tragedy

A Boy Named Tragedy was conceived above a wet spot on a couch in the Chronic Pain Facility of the Goat Palace. ABNT is single mindedly committed to the eradication of songs/bands that sound exactly the same. They are also committed to keeping kids off of drugs. Following the Keith Richards model, they do them all themselves.

ABNT were ugly before it was cool, are outlaws in Goobies (Doobies in Goobies) and are on the short list for next years Darwin Awards. God would like to smite ABNT, but fears what would happen if they joined Hells infernal legions.

ABNT are both sensitive and angry. Like a man with a freshly trimmed mullet, they can take it and give it out. But please remember that they are always crying inside.

ABNT will: Paint your house, but you wont like the color. Insight panic in the masses. Take out the Garbage, but only if you tell us to. Drink beer upside-down. Promote oral hygiene. Solve none of the worlds problems. Make fun of each other and Neo-ludites at every opportunity.

A Boy Named Tragedy is a figment of your imagination. If you can see them, you're either crazy or somebody put something in your drink.
